We travelled to Postojna to visit the incredible karst cave system. It was one of the first regions where this underground system was identified. We have been to Mamouth Cave in Kentucky and some in south Dakota but this was unique in that it had an electric train that takes you deep into the cave. The we walked about 1.5 kilometres before riding the train back to the large opening. The mini-train took us us through this fantastic underground world of beautiful stalactites and stalagmites.
The one thing tha I
noted was that all the formations were a dark brown colour. The was not much water dripping from the ceiling which indicated that it wasn't very actively building new structures.
We continue towards our hotel outside of Venice for a 2 night stay. The tour ends tomorrow after a visit to Venice and then we head home Monday morning. t
